Sue A. Seidenfeld, MS, LCADC

Executive Director
I have worked in the substance abuse and mental health field for 28 years. My experience includes counseling, program design and development in community based prevention programs, acute care hospitals (bedside interventions), inpatient psychiatric/detoxification units and outpatient programs. I have worked with adults, adolescents, families and individuals with co-occurring disorders. I have extensive experience in training and teaching in the addiction counseling field.

Rose Maire, MA, LCADC, CCS

Clinical Director
I have worked in the addiction field for 30 years. My experience includes working as a high school Student Assistance Counselor, as a Program Director and Deputy Director of a short-term residential treatment program for adults, and, most recently, as the Clinical Director of COPE Center a community based outpatient counseling program that works with children, adolescents and adults.

Ilene Palent, MA

Clinician and HIV Specialist
I have a Masters in Group and Individual Counseling from Montclair State University. I have completed New Jersey State Training in counseling HIV clients. For the past 13 years, I’ve run a support group for people who are infected with or affected by AIDS. I do a great deal of individual counseling of women who are in recovery and living in a shelter. I’ve been working at COPE for a very l----------ong time. I still love it!

Dorothy Sommer, MA, ATR, CSW

Clinician and Art Therapist
Education - MA in Counseling & Human Services; an MA in Art Education/Therapy. I have worked at COPE for over 20 years in various capacities. Initially, as an art therapy consultant working with the staff psychologist to develop and execute a child abuse prevention program for families involved with drugs and/or alcohol. The program involved team effort, art therapy, supervision and coordination of interns, group and individual counseling. Over the years special projects concerned the homeless, children and special psycho-educational programs as well as ongoing counseling of individuals, families and couples. Supervision of Art therapy graduate students from local colleges and Universities. Other professional experience includes: Adjunct Professor ( MSU, William Paterson University, Bloomfield College); Mental Health Counselor for Catholic Community Services; Art Therapy Program Developer/Therapist for diversely diagnosed children at two special education settings; Seminar Planner/Leader and Career Counselor for The Cooperative Education Program at Montclair State University
